Change of Command Ceremony

I love July! I love the red, white and blue! I love the stars and stripes! I am proud to be an American and super proud to be married to an amazing man who supports the war fighters everyday as we goes to work to provide for our family. I couldn't let this most patriotic time of the year pass with out mentioning Kent's new position at work.

In May Kent assumed leadership as the Squadron Director of the Secondary Power Systems. An Official Change of of Command Ceremony was held in his honor. "THE CHANGE OF COMMAND CEREMONY IS AN OFFICIAL, FORMAL CEREMONY AND ONE OF THE OLDEST MILITARY TRADITIONS. THE TRADITION DATES BACK TO THE ERA OF FREDERICK THE GREAT OF PRUSSIA. AS SOLDIERS FOLLOWED THEIR LEADERS INTO BATTLE, THEY KEPT SIGHT OF THEIR FLAGS TO HELP COORDINATE BATTLEFIELD MOVEMENTS AND FOR INSPIRATION TO CONTINUE FIGHTING. AFTER BATTLE, IF THE FLAG WAS STILL IN SIGHT, IT MEANT VICTORY WAS THEIRS. THE SYMBOLIC PASSING OF THE ORGANIZATIONS FLAG DENOTES THE ACCEPTANCE OF RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY TO THE INCOMING COMMANDER TO LEAD THE UNIT DURING TIMES OF PEACE AND WAR. THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE 530TH COMMODITIES MAINTENANCE SQUADRON ARE PROUD TO UPHOLD THIS TRADITION.

Never had Kent felt such strong emotion stir inside of him as he stood and sang the National Anthem. It was a touching ceremony, I'm especially grateful for the opportunity it gave me to reflected on our Nations history and ponder on all that the Flag truly represents. I am thankful to all our parents, family and close friends who came to support. Good luck Kent!
